Sex Fact #506

In 2008, an ad campaign used "shock tactics" to raise awareness of issues surrounding teen pregnancy by showing Pregnant Boys in place of the girls. Using photography by Tim MacPherson, who had already been nominated for an award at the 2008 Sony World Photography Awards for his photo 'Pregnant Boy on a Skateboard' (shown at the bottom), the ads carry the message:  “It shouldn’t be any less disturbing when it’s a girl”.

The Pregnant Boys campaign was developed at BVK, Milwaukee, by creative director Gary Mueller, art directors Brent Goral, Giho Lee, copywriters Mike Holicek, Jeff Ericksen, and photographer Tim MacPherson. Here is his Sony Photography Award nominated photo 'Pregnant Boy on a Skateboard'.
