The film 'A Free Ride' (aka 'A Grass Sandwich'), made in 1915, is still widely believed to be the earliest-known U.S. porn film. The film featured a sexually explicit scene of a wealthy man having sex with two female hitchhikers by the side of a road. These kind of films were completely illegal at the time of the release of 'A Free Ride' and couldn't be shown in mainstream theatres. Instead, they were shown in special viewings in all-male locations, like clubs, etc.
