Sex Fact #454

In 1977, US singer and gay rights opponent Anita Bryant was pied in the face by a gay rights activist during a news conference.

Bryant scored four Top 40 hits in the United States in the late 1950s and early 1960s, including "Paper Roses", which reached #5.

She later became widely known for her strong views against homosexuality and for her prominent campaigning in 1977, as leader of the 'Save Our Children' coalition to repeal a local ordinance in Dade County, Florida, that prohibited discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation.

We at WTFSexFacts wonder if her bible was missing the part that said: “Do not judge, or you too will be judged. For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you (Matthew 7:12).”

  2. 2 quick notes on this...

1)It was a fruit pie, don't know what kind, but one of the men there commented on it at the time.

2)Highly unpublished at the time was that Anita's husband had filed for and divorced her when he left her for another man. Hell hath no fury as a woman scorned.
