Ron Jeremy is listed in the Guiness Book of World Records for "Most Appearances in Adult Films" with 2000 appearances.
This is constantly debated as many claim John C.Holmes (Johnny Wadd) is the man who starred in the most porn movies (over 2250). It is argues that many of Holmes films are lost and that his number of credits is inaccurate.
They claim that at least 60 to 70 percent of them are one-reel 8 mm loops or stag films. Since the majority of Holmes' loops and stag films have gone into public domain following the collapse of Caballero Control Corporation in 1990, there are efforts underway to locate all surviving 8 mm loops starring Holmes that he made during the 1960s, 70s, and 80s and convert them to DVD for posterity. However, since the life expectancy of most 8 mm films is very brief (due to the nature of the film stock used at that time), it is believed that the majority of Holmes' loops are forever lost.
John Holmes died in 1988 from Aids.
Ron Jeremy is still actively working in the porn actor and would eventually overtake Holmes anyway.
